New Brunswick Election Called
Today, Bernard Lord has dropped the writ for a general election on September 18th. I am hereby endorsing Bernard Lord and his Progressive Conservative party for re-election as I believe Bernard Lord is the best choice of the three leaders. He has shown a strong ability to bring together a wide variety of both strong conservatives all the way to Red Tories and has been successful in terms of winning support in both the predominately Anglophone South and Francophone North. The budget is balanced, taxes are down, and there is now money flowing in to invest in important programs for New Brunswickers. While some may ask why I am support the New Brunswick PCs rather than Liberals, I should point out just because the Progressive Conservatives no longer exist federally, doesn't mean I have stopped being a Progressive Conservative. I still remain one to this day, but since they no longer exist federally, I went to my second choice, which is the Liberal Party of Canada as opposed to the Reform/Alliance.

Only because they have financed the Trans-Canada project via the private sector. The Conservatives have significantly added to New Brunswick's real debt. They have also increased gas taxes by 3.8 cents a litre. Minimum wage (at $6.70) is the lowest in the country...

I don't know the details of the project, but I support this if the private sector can do it cheaper. Lets remember the federal Liberals financed the Confederation Bridge through the private sector. Increasing Gas Taxes is not great, but it is better than increasing income taxes. As for the minimum wage, I think one should look at the cost of living too. Here in BC the minimum wage is $8/hour, but when the cost of living is factored in, it really isn't that much different.

Like Scott Brison, I am a former Progressive Conservative who switched to the Liberals after the PCs were swallowed up by the Alliance. In New Brunswick the Progressive Conservatives still exists, federally they do not, which is why I am proudly a Liberal. Besides in Atlantic Canada the PCs average about 10% higher than the federal Conservatives suggesting many others feel the same way as I do.

But Miles, you have to realize that the leaders of all those provincial PC parties you support also happen to support Harper. And Charest also quitely backed Harper as well.
And you can be certain that Brison wouldn't dare endorse provincial PCs at this rate.
The New Brunswick Liberal Association (Liberal Party of New Brunswick) should take the reigns of the provincal government there. They are the only political party dedicated to improving the province's economy. I'm a hopeful.

Provincial and federal politics are a whole different ball game so who one supports federally is really irrelevant to me. I have no problem supporting people such as Kevin Falcon and Rich Coleman who are both federal conservatives. Even if Gordon Campbell came out and said he was a federal conservative, I still wouldn't tear up my membership card. I should also note that both Paul Martin and Jean Chretien voted for Charest in 2003 and almost certainly will in the next provincial election.

He's running for Liberal leadership so it would be too risky. Besides some Liberal MLAs from New Brunswick have endorsed him. I should note Rick Borotsik endorsed the Liberals in both 2004 and 2006 yet plans to run for the Manitoba PCs in the next provincial election. He like me is a former Progressive Conservatives who cannot stomach a Stephen Harper led Conservative.

They might win. I have nothing against the New Brunswick Liberals, I just happen to prefer the New Brunswick PCs. They are pro-free enterprise like myself, but not reckless about it like the federal Conservatives are.
miles miles miles, where did your mother and I go wrong? You were doing so well and then wham ya gotta support that moron Lord. Oh well, just futher emphasizes my "we should end the world and start over theory" even smart people can be dumb sometimes.
HH - I am a former progressive conservative so that is why I am endorsing Bernard Lord. Federally they were swallowed up by the far right Alliance so I will go for my second choice, which is the Liberal party of Canada. I don't know what Scott Brison's views on the New Brunswick election are, although I do know he did support Bernard Lord when he was still a PC and I understand you look Scott Brison.
