The Real Stephen Harper

For those who are saying Harper is a moderate we can all trust him to clean up government check this out

Scary isn't it. I hope any Canadian thinking of voting Conservatives reads this before going to the ballot box. Those voting Conservative should at least know what they are getting.

Nope, doesnt scare me. Half of those quotes come from a speech that didn't even dent Harper's support when it was leaked to CP.

In fact it somewhat backfired on the Libs.

This is the problem with the Libs. We're two weeks out from Election Day and they have no platform out yet. Hell, they don't even have a consistent slogan yet.

All they have left is fear and lies. And its not going to be enough this time.

Brandon, the Liberals do too have a consistent slogan. As Miles put it:

"Honestly, corruption is a relatively minor issue."

Somewhere between recklessly steering the country towards a hertofore unmentioned opening of the constitution and practicing Dick Cheney style politics, Martin said pretty much that during the debate. He said, "enough!"

Just the problem, why the Liberals have to go: he honestly thinks only he should get to decide that.

Well Brandon it does scare me. Just so we are clear here, I am not interested in converting strong Conservatives to the Liberals. I simply want people to know what Stephen Harper's real views are and if one supports that type of Canada, then thats their choice. Democracy is about each person choosing what type of Canada they want. I happen to disagree with his vision and I using these as evidence of this, but also so some of the undecideds can see what this mean really stands for. If I can change as few as a few undecideds, I believe I will have accomplished my goal.

I agree with Martin's decision to re-open the constitution and get rid of the notwithstanding clause. It is time minority rights be protected from right wing governments who may take them away, but also individual rights be protected for left wing governments who wish to take them away. Lets remember if he goes through with this, Quebec will have no choice but to allow a parallel private health system.

I agree with Martin's decision to re-open the constitution and get rid of the notwithstanding clause.

But unless he goes for a meaningless house motion then Martin will be unable to control the scope of what will be discussed if the constitution is re-opened.

You really expect Jean Charest to agree to discuss NWC and not Distinct Society?

Totally reckless and desperate.

What's next for Kim Il Paul? Invade Rhode Island?

He will only pass legislation is allowed under section 44, which doesn't require provincial approval since it will only apply to the federal government. The provincial government will still have the right to use the notwithstanding clause, but hopefully other provinces will follow suit.

Oh thank God. Then it's only half as divisive, equally as stupid and completely a waste of time.

Mind you he didn't say that in the debate - sort of like Liberals and the truth - never quite there.

Do those Bush-like attack ads make you feel proud all over to be Canadian?

Paul Martin's hidden agenda as of Jan 9, 2006:

This idea of drive-by smears doesn't make it true. These allegations are being made only for political reasons and for no other.

You have to admit, gven the fiberal attack-lies, it's well hiddn!
