Liberals fine Volpe $20,000

For anyone thinking the Liberal party is a corrupt organization that tolerates sleazy behavior think again

Kudos to the party for showing leadership and telling Volpe and his sleazebag organization that his unethical behavior won't be tolerated. Since it looks like Volpe won't pay the fine, maybe we can get rid of him after all. One thing this whole episode has shown is that Volpe has greater loyalty to his own self-ego, then he does to the party as a whole and that is why he doesn't deserve to even be considered as leadership material.

Hopefully they will do the same to Gerard Kennedy who has the only challenged memberships in several southern Ontario ridings, with people not knowing they are members or with similar signatures on various people's forms.

Show me the evidence. Apparently with Ignatieff, the tip on him signing up members without their consent was by a Volpe supporter, so I wonder if this is being done by another Volpe supporter. Besides one mistake due to having bad handlers, I can understand this since I am not sure Volpe was directly involved. But when you have scandal after scandal one has to assume that either the candidate is doing it themselves or tacitly approves of such behavior.

They tolerated Martin as their leader. Enough said on that score.

Martin was not a corrupt and sleazy leader. Besides, has it ever occurred to you Brandon that maybe some parties learn from their defeats. Perhaps maybe the Liberals got the message that people were tired of such behavior.

I see...so as long as Volpe coughs up some cash, he is free to continue with his usual sleazy behavior. He should have been drummed out immediately, anything less was unacceptable and continues to bring much deserved heat to your sainted liberal party.

I think a fine was quite appropriate and the fact he won't pay it means he will be disqualified. The reality is the Liberal Party much like the Conservative Party has certain rules and unless they can prove Joe Volpe knew first hand about what was happening, they cannot disqualify him. I think he is a sleazebag, but following party procedure, I don't think they can disqualify him at the moment.

As long as Volpe is still a member of this party the organization is corrupt. A fine doesn't change a damned thing. The fact the liberals keep this guy around is beyond me!

I find bigotry more distasteful than corruption although I find both distasteful. Does the fact the Conservatives refused to kick Vellacott, Anders, Cheryl Gallant, and Randy White out of caucus mean they tolerate bigotry and homophobia. I would think not. You may be okay with sexism, homophobia, and racism, but I am not and so until the Conservatives refuse to kick those with those kind of views of out their caucus they have no right to complain about the Liberals kicking corrupt ones out.
