A political blogger from a centre-right perspective. I live in Toronto although grew up in Vancouver, currently work in the financial sector and I was an active supporter of the BC Liberals provincially, but now support the Ontario PCs. Federally I used to be a Progressive Conservative, but have since left the Conservatives due to their more right wing policies and now proudly support the Liberals.

Hey Miles, I read your comment and was particularly interested in the comments on private vs public health care.

My View
I actually think it is not a bad idea. In Britain they use money raised from the pay beds is used for funding the public system. Although I wouldn't support a 100% tax, a think a 50% tax would make more sense as it would give choice to those who wish to use the private system and also prevent future Supreme Court challenges. At the same time the money raised could be used to strengnthen the public system, which is the only system many can use. Although I don't totally agree, it is at least a good start. My biggest problem is the debate is between the status quo and an American system, when in my view neither work, so we need to have an honest debate, not always using rhetoric.
