Canada`s Next Liberal Leader: Stephane Dion

Now we are down to the final ballot with Rae gone and Ignatieff trailing Stephane Dion. At this point I am 90% sure Stephane Dion will be the next Liberal leader and Canada`s next prime-minister. I`ll have more later.

90% chance he'll be the next PM? Don't get too swept up in the moment.

Dionwill be a formidable opponent, but you can admit that Harper is no slouch either.

Dion needs 46% of Rae's delegates, do you think we'll see it?

I think we will since both Rae and Dion are left-leaning liberals and I would be surprised if 54% of the Rae vote that Ignateiff needs to win will happen. There aren't that many right-of-center voters in Rae's camp.

Brandon - Harper is a formidable opponent, but I should also remind you Stepheane Dion is only 51 so even if they lose the next election, he will likely stay on as leader.

Dylan - Actually Ignatieff is generall y to the left of Dion on economic policy, only to the right of him on foreign policy. Still I think Dion should have no difficulty getting 46 percent of Rae's support
